Using Saxophone, Guitar and Electronics, Sonia Killmann and Aidan Lochrin create live ambient soundscapes.
Formed in January 2020, Failed System Test have performed at various Glasgow venues, such as the Old Hairdressers, the Glad Cafe and Tramway. During lockdown, the duo kept up producing music during and released their EP {unshift} with the independent label Dead Hound Records. Since then, they performed a sold-out show at Cryptic's Sonica festival in 2022, sharing a stage with Cucina Povera. The performance can be found on YouTube, Bandcamp and Spotify. Sonia and Aidan were also asked to support Canadian Saxophone player Jason Sharp at the Glad Cafe and have organised their own Ambient Triple bill in collaboration with Sound Thought in September 2022, playing alongside Long Green Jaws and Instruction Manual. Failed System Test also features on independent Scottish radio stations, such as Clydebuilt Radio and have played at experimental nights such as Wavetable in Edinburgh and 1.5 Months in Glasgow. The duo's music has evolved immensely since 2020 and new recordings for their first album release are in the works.
